Product Description
Sodium Bicarbonate (chemical formula: NaHCO₃), commonly known as baking soda, is a versatile inorganic compound widely used across food, pharmaceutical, industrial, and environmental sectors. It typically appears as white, odorless powder or fine crystals, soluble in water (with a slightly alkaline aqueous solution) and stable under normal temperature—decomposing into sodium carbonate, water, and carbon dioxide only when heated above 50℃.

Food Processing
• Leavening Agent: Sodium bicarbonate is widely used as a leavening agent in baking. It decomposes when heated, releasing carbon dioxide gas, which causes dough to rise, resulting in light and airy baked goods like bread, cakes, and cookies.
• Carbonated Beverages: It is used as a source of carbon dioxide in carbonated drinks, providing the characteristic fizz.
• Food Preservative: Sodium bicarbonate can act as a preservative in butter and other dairy products, extending their shelf life.
• Vegetable Processing: It is used as a color stabilizer for green vegetables. Adding 0.1% to 0.2% sodium bicarbonate to water can help maintain the green color of vegetables during cooking.
• Flavor Enhancer: It can be used to enhance flavors and improve the texture of certain foods.

• Fire Extinguishers: Sodium bicarbonate is used in the production of acid-base and foam fire extinguishers. When heated, it decomposes to release carbon dioxide, which helps to smother fires.
